As a Structural Engineering Intern, you will join our Structural Building Team in our Westfield, MA or Westwood, MA office, where you’ll play a key role in delivering vital infrastructure projects across the Northeast. Our award-winning team of licensed engineers and engineering professionals deliver innovative and technically sound structural solutions tailored to a wide range of client needs. We provide comprehensive structural design and assessment services for both new construction and renovation projects. Our expertise encompasses a full spectrum of building materials, including wood, concrete, steel, and masonry. Our projects include treatment and industrial facilities, commercial developments, residential homes, and historic preservation. Our Structural Team takes pride in providing technically sound, practical, safe and effective engineering solutions for complex real-world challenges. 

Responsibilities, Requirements, and Total Rewards

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Support the structural design of new buildings, renovations, and additions and assist in developing design solutions using materials such as steel, concrete, masonry, and wood, in accordance with applicable building codes
  • Contribute to the creation of structural drawings, specifications, calculation packages, and reports using tools like Revit, AutoCAD, and structural analysis software
  • Participate in site visits, field surveys, and construction observation to gain exposure to construction administration practices
  • Learn about quality assurance practices including peer reviews and checklist-based deliverable assessments

What You'll Need

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program pursuing a degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a concentration in Structural
  • Previous coursework or relevant experience in structural analysis, materials, or building design and familiarity with structural design concepts and interest in building systems
  • Interest in pursuing the FE Exam and EIT certification
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Intellectual curiosity and a desire to solve engineering problems

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Hands-on experience with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, STAAD, RISA, MicroStation or other 3D modeling/visualization tools
  • A concentration or minor in Architectural Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline
  • At least 2 years of completed coursework in a college level academic program
  • Previous internship experience in structural design, consulting, or construction support
