Our MEP Team and Projects
Tighe & Bond’s MEP team provides mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection design services for a diverse range of projects across municipal, institutional, industrial, and commercial markets. We work collaboratively with architects, structural engineers, and environmental specialists to deliver innovative, energy-efficient, and code-compliant building systems. Our projects include educational facilities, public safety buildings, laboratories, water and wastewater treatment plants, and various complex renovations and new construction efforts throughout the Northeast. 

Responsibilities, Requirements, and Total Rewards

What You’ll Be Doing

As a valuable part of our MEP Team, a Senior MEP Professional will work on a variety of projects and gain hands-on experience with responsibilities such as:

  • Lead or support the design of mechanical, electrical, and/or plumbing systems for building and infrastructure projects across sectors
  • Prepare construction documents including drawings, specifications, and calculations in accordance with applicable codes and client standards
  • Participate in design coordination with multidisciplinary teams, including architectural and structural partners
  • Conduct field assessments and surveys of existing building systems to support renovation and retrofit projects
  • Provide technical oversight to junior staff, reviewing work for accuracy, constructability, and compliance
  • Assist in developing project scopes, estimates, and schedules in coordination with project managers and discipline leads
  • Participate in internal design reviews, QA/QC efforts, and collaborate on technical problem-solving
  • Support construction administration activities including review of submittals, RFIs, and occasional site visits

What You’ll Need

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering Technology or Design discipline
  • 10+ years of experience in MEP design, with a focus on building systems in municipal, institutional, industrial, or commercial settings
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD; working knowledge of discipline-specific analysis tools (e.g., Trane Trace, SKM, HAP, etc.) is a plus
  • Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, or electrical systems and applicable building codes
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to coordinate with a multidisciplinary team
  • Proven ability to produce high-quality design documentation and meet deadlines across multiple active projects
  • Strong organizational skills and an eye for technical detail and constructability

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience in sustainable design practices and energy efficiency standards (e.g., LEED, IECC)
  • Familiarity with water/wastewater treatment facility design or other infrastructure-heavy environments
  • Experience mentoring junior staff or leading small technical teams
  • Involvement in professional associations such as ASHRAE, NFPA, IES, or ASPE
  • Familiarity with state and local permitting requirements for building services design
