As a Staff Engineer 2, you will join our One Water Business Line in our Portland, ME or Portsmouth, NH offices, where you’ll play a key role in delivering vital infrastructure projects across the Northeast. Our One Water Team and Projects
Nearly 160 professional engineers strong and recent recipients of multiple ACEC Engineering Excellence and ASCE Project Awards, our senior technical and project management leaders have earned an outstanding reputation with private, state, and local government clients. We provide planning, design, and construction phase services for the construction of new, or improvements to existing conveyance systems, treatment plants, pump stations, and other water infrastructure. We assist our clients with capital improvement plans, hydraulic modeling services, and implementing asset management programs while also undertaking study projects including Long Term CSO Control Plans, Comprehensive Wastewater Management Plans, Integrated Water Resource Management Plans, and Sewer System Evaluation Studies.  

Responsibilities, Requirements, and Total Rewards

What You’ll Be Doing

As a valuable part of our One Water Business Line, a Staff Engineer 2 will support a variety of projects and gain hands-on experience with responsibilities such as: 

  • Perform water, and/or wastewater engineering design tasks, including developing drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for bidding and construction
  • Observe construction on municipal infrastructure projects (sewer, storm drain, water, roads)
  • Identify contractor conformance with design drawings and specifications
  • Measure installed quantities and reviewing shop drawings
  • Coordinate with city staff and residents and preparing daily reports 

What You’ll Need  

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or any related field
  • 2 or more years of experience in engineering design, consulting, surveying, permitting, and/or construction observation
  • Currently have your EIT certification and working towards your PE
  • An understanding of the water resources industry
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Eagerness to learn, self-motivation, and excellent organizational skills

Preferred Requirements

  • Master's degree in Civil or Environmental engineering or any related field
  • Hands-on experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and HydroCAD
