Our engineers and scientists work together to support the full lifecycle of dam and levee systems, from concept through construction, with a focus on public safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory excellence. Whether it’s designing critical repairs, navigating complex permitting, or removing aging infrastructure to restore natural ecosystems, our work directly supports dam safety, climate resilience, water management, and the restoration of fish and wildlife habitats.  

Responsibilities, Requirements, and Total Rewards

What You’ll Be Doing

As a valuable part of our Dams Team , a Senior Engineer 1 will play a key role in delivering technical solutions, supporting project execution, and mentoring junior staff across multiple projects within the Northeast with responsibilities such as:

  • Collaborate with project teams to design and conduct technical work, address and solving complex engineering challenges
  • Serve as a technical resource and occasionally acting as a "go-to" expert within your area of specialization
  • Provide quality control (QC) reviews on project deliverables, ensuring accuracy and adherence to industry and regulatory standards
  • Mentor and coach junior staff, foster professional growth and knowledge-sharing within the team
  • Support business development efforts, including proposal writing, assist with client management, and contribute to strategic planning
  • Prepare technical agreements, including letter agreements, sub-consultant contracts, and task orders
  • Participate in industry engagement, present at technical forums, and contribute to professional practice organizations
  • Lead internal knowledge-sharing efforts, deliver at least one technical seminar or training session annually

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
  • Considerable consulting engineering experience with increasing responsibility in dams, river restoration, or water resources engineering
  • Licensure as a Professional Engineer
  • Familiarity with New England regulations and permitting related to the dam processes
  • Proven expertise in dam inspections and dam rehabilitation and removal design and permitting
  • Clear, concise, and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Field experience in dam safety inspections, hydrologic data collection, and dam construction oversight
  • Enthusiasm for learning and a self-motivated approach to professional growth  

Preferred Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and familiarity with modeling software such as seepage and slope stability (Slide or GeoStudio) HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, and GIS
  • Proven expertise in seepage cutoff as well as collection and embankment stability
  • Additional licensure in multiple states to support diverse project needs
