As a Senior Environmental Scientist - Site Assessment and Brownfields, you will join our Environment Business Line in our Troy or Rhinebeck, NY office, where you’ll play a key role in delivering vital infrastructure projects across the Northeast. Working with industry experts, you’ll tackle complex challenges that strengthen community resilience and advance environmental sustainability. Our Site Assessment Team and Projects
Our team provides comprehensive environmental services, including site assessments, subsurface investigations using the latest technologies, soil gas/vapor intrusion evaluations, and innovative cleanup approaches. We specialize in brownfields redevelopment and site redevelopment integrating cleanup in final development plans.

 

Responsibilities, Requirements, and Total Rewards

What You’ll Be Doing

As a valuable part of our Site Assessment Team, as a Senior Environmental Scientist, you will support a variety of projects and gain hands-on experience with responsibilities such as: 

  • Develop new business and foster client relationships in the Capital Region, identifying opportunities and driving growth for Tighe & Bond in the local market.
  • Create and interpret conceptual site models and remediation strategies, providing technical insights and guiding data analysis for successful project outcomes.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, proposals, and budgets, ensuring clear communication with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
  • Manage projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and client expectations are met while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.
  • Oversee field teams and subcontractors, ensuring efficient and compliant project execution while managing environmental data and conducting site investigations.
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to team development while expanding HRP’s presence and expertise in the New York market.

What You’ll Need  

  • BS in Geology, Environmental Science, Civil/Environmental Engineering or related field
  • 15–20 years of related experience, with at least 10 years in client and project management, including scope development, budgeting, contract management, and staff mentoring
  • Experience with the New York and EPA Brownfields program 
  • Strong business development and client relationship management interest and background

 

Preferred Requirements

  • Established network of clients (municipalities, developers, government agencies) and business partners (attorneys, planners, engineers)
  • Experience with both public and private sector projects
  • New York Professional Geology Certification
